Shared analytical infrastructure for environmental data
SEAF is a secure, cloud-based facility that provides governed, shared infrastructure for analysing environmental data. It supports faster environmental approvals and cumulative impact assessment, as well as federal and state coordination.

SEAF is an initiative of WABSI and WAMSI, supported by ARDC.
It is a departure from fragmented environmental analytics toward trusted, multi-party environmental information systems. A facility that creates a governed middle ground between isolated data siloes and uncontrolled data sharing.
As a cloud platform, SEAF is a governed technology and code-enabled data sharing environment. Data custodians retain control while allowing approved users to create analytical products under agreed terms.
Within SEAF:
- Data does not need to be transferred or pooled into a central repository
- Analysis occurs inside governed environments with defined access, use and output rules
- Workflows support robust, reliable and repeatable analytical products
- Custodians maintain control of their data and risk

A hub with regional spokes
SEAF uses a hub and spoke architecture.

- Regional spokes are where collaboration happens, where each spoke:
- Operates under a multi-party governance arrangement
- Is established for a specific region or thematic purpose
- Reflects regional priorities and participant requirements
- Includes different collaboration environments such as: private zones, shared zones and collaboration zones
