WABSI and WAMSI brought industry and government together on 12th May 2025 to celebrate successful pilot projects in Cockburn Sound and the Pilbara of the Shared Environmental Analytics Facility (SEAF); the projects are delivering smart data analytics from the vast volumes of environmental data collected in WA each year.
Science Minister Stephen Dawson congratulated WABSI, WAMSI and partners in a video statement. “SEAF is a world-leading digital technology…co-designed right here in Western Australia with industry, government, and scientists to improve biodiversity outcomes.” Minister Dawson said.
Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn attended the event and said that SEAF presented a paradigm shift, providing robust approaches and analytics from best available environmental data. He added it was a great partnership for delivering environmental and economic benefits.
Chair of the Environmental Protection Authority, Darren Walsh also spoke at the event, saying that SEAF was delivering a clearer picture of the cumulative impacts of combined pressures in development zones.
